Airport Retail

Structural design support for a premium electronics retail space in one of the UK’s busiest terminals

MJ Consulting Engineers was proud to support the delivery of the new InMotion kiosk at Heathrow Terminal 5 - a high-profile addition to InMotion’s growing retail presence, developed in collaboration with WHSmith and InMotion Entertainment Group.

Officially opened on 11 January, the kiosk brings a modern, tech-focused retail experience to airside passengers, showcasing a wide range of electronics, travel accessories, wearables, and premium beauty and audio products.

Our Role

MJC provided full structural consultancy for the kiosk’s design and installation, working closely with the client and delivery team to ensure seamless integration within the constraints of Heathrow’s existing infrastructure.

Our scope included:

  • Structural design calculations for the kiosk framework and interfaces

  • Coordination with fit-out and architectural teams

  • Engineering support to meet airport operational and compliance standards

  • Ongoing consultancy through to launch

The project required precision detailing and logistical planning to ensure safe delivery and installation within a live terminal environment - without disruption to passenger flow or neighbouring concessions.

A Collaborative Result

This new kiosk represents more than just a retail space - it reflects the successful collaboration between leading retail and engineering teams. MJC’s involvement highlights our experience in delivering structurally sound, visually aligned, and build-ready solutions within fast-paced, high-traffic environments like Heathrow.
