Soul & Grain at Belfast International Airport
Structural engineering that performs - in theatres, airports, and live event spaces across the UK.

Working closely with SSP, we developed structural solutions that allowed Soul & Grain to be seamlessly integrated into the existing terminal, while meeting the demands of a high-footfall airport environment.

MJ Consulting Engineers were appointed to provide structural engineering services for the delivery of the Soul & Grain coffee bar at Belfast International Airport. The outlet is the first new food and beverage concept to open within the airport’s £100 million redevelopment programme.
Working closely with SSP Group, Belfast International Airport, and the wider design team, MJ Consulting Engineers supported the structural integration of the new concession within a live terminal environment. This included assessing existing structural constraints, coordinating structural interfaces with the base build, and developing solutions to accommodate the new fit-out while maintaining passenger circulation and operational requirements.
The completed Soul & Grain unit delivers a contemporary coffee space suited to high passenger throughput, with structural solutions carefully coordinated to support the architectural layout, services integration, and day-to-day operational demands of a busy airport terminal.
