What the brief was — and what we delivered.
MJC provided structural engineering services for the WHSmith 1st Hit East store at Manchester Airport Terminal 2.
Project context
The store forms part of the wider Terminal 2 redevelopment, creating a modern retail environment for high passenger footfall in one of the UK's busiest airport terminals.
Engineering response
Working within a live airport environment, MJC supported new layouts and specialist retail fit-out elements within the existing terminal structure. Coordination focused on compatibility, efficient sequencing and minimal disruption to airport operations.
Outcome
The completed store combines a contemporary WHSmith airport format with local Manchester references, including interior details inspired by the Manchester Bee.
The work, on site.
